If you have more than just a passing interest in politics, foreign or domestic, you might well be a candidate for a political science career. Be assured that this field does not mean a career as a politician, although most candidates come from the arena that supports and grows new politicians, a political science career covers far more ground that just running for elective offices. The entire far reaching arm of government is staffed with trained political science majors, who many time have similar influence and access to policy as those they support.

The realm of political science is a broad and far reaching discipline that the American Political Science Association have identified approximately 42 different subcategories within the Poly-Sci field of study. Among the various specialties you’ll find peace and conflict studies, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy and ideology, race relations, women’s specialties, education, the poor and disadvantaged, even election and voting behavior.

A carer in this sector is definitely for those that are considered to be people persons, as public contact is a major portion of the field work in this chosen profession. Communications skills are expected to be honed to a fine degree as diplomacy is also a subset of a political science career. A bachelors degree in political science can be a fast track in other careers in business, finance or even law and law enforcement.

Technology is everywhere we turn today, it has become the norm to have some sort of mobile phone or laptop device on your person at all times, be it on a train or a bus, in a lecture theatre or a meeting – it has become acceptable to use these devices everywhere.

Taking notes on a laptop is quite a skill to learn and one which must be practised in order to become proficient.

Follow these 5 tips on taking notes effectively on your laptop whilst minimising the distraction to others around you.

Do not attempt to write out the whole conversation on your laptop. Make abbreviated notes and bullet points. Do not worry about typing errors; you can amend your work later. If you try to write down everything there is a good chance that you will miss some important information.

Prepare in advance - Getting to know the useful short-cuts on your laptop will save you a considerable amount of time and prevent you missing out on vital information. If you leave your laptop in ‘hibernate’ mode you can be up and running in no time at all with as little disruption as possible. Pre-prepare the screen with the date and title and any information you already have. Doing this will save you valuable time in meetings and lectures. Finally prepare any questions you may have beforehand and you will have the opportunity and time to ask them during the meeting or lecture.

Note taking requires good organisational skills. Keep your notes in some kind of order, perhaps by segmenting them into relevant sections. Often during meetings and lectures the speaker will jump back to an earlier part of the session. Keeping notes in uniform order will help you to jump back and add more information into the relevant section.

After your meeting or lecture, it is advisable that you transcribe your notes as soon as possible so that they are still fresh and clear in your mind and will then make sense when you come to read back over them at a later date.

Consider using specially designed note taking software to assist you. Microsoft OneNote is designed specifically for the purpose of collating notes into one place. Easy to organise, you can find your notes with ease and efficiency. Phoenix Software is offering huge discounts on software for pupilsand this offer includes a discount on Microsoft Office 2010. Part of the Microsoft 2010 package, OneNote is available online to students and teachers at excellent discounted prices.

If you are keen on the idea of using laptops for note taking but are not quite ready to make the leap from notepad and pen, you might find a Smartpen of interest. These Smartpens record everything you write down and then the stored information can be transferred directly to OneNote. OneNote’s excellent ability to search for handwritten text can be very advantageous here.

Locum gp work is done mainly by temporary staffs provided by recruitment agencies. These people have the same credentials as real doctors. The only difference is that they do jobs when the real doctors are absent from work or when the hospital needs more staffs during emergency or critical situations. Other than that, a locum gp is as professional, knowledgeable and skilled just like a regular doctor. Sometimes they are even better because their nature of job is to take over unfinished jobs done by the real doctors.

The locum gp work may include all the general and routine work performed by a regular doctor. If you want to become a locum gp this means you will also be required to perform surgeries, prescribe medicines and even handle psychiatric cases.

Many people who are looking for jobs in the medical field for the very first time like to prefer doing locum gp work. This is because the job scope of locum gp gives them a lot of opportunities to learn new things and how to manage different medical cases efficiently. Furthermore, a locum gp gets the chance to travel and provide his service in different medical institutions.

Doing locum gp work will also expose you with valuable experiences in which can be used to apply jobs in specific medical area.

If you are a prospective student looking for an option overseas, may be willing to travel to London to find out if it is a safe option before selecting their university. This article attempts to shed some light on the uncertainties that may affect this area. Peace of mind for security is yet another reason for studying in London.

The ban on drinking and smoking in the London Underground, has yielded significant results with fewer incidents of crime, making it one of the safest transport networks of a city in the world.

Almost all subway stations are constantly monitored by trained personnel. However, it is prudent to be cautious when traveling late at night to haul the center of the city, which is likely to be less busy and have less staff present.

When you study in London, you may be able to have free time and want to take advantage of the fun out, however, is not a good idea to drink alcohol beyond their limits, especially if you are with foreigners.

It’s a good idea to sit near the driver on the bus at night, especially if there are many drunken passengers on board. If there is no way for you to go home at night, except on foot, then take precautions such as using better lit streets.

If you are a single woman who traveled to study in London and enjoys going out at night, the safest way to get home by taxi licensed mini cab. Never use unlicensed companies when you return home. A simple way to find a taxi, if you left is by texting CAB to 60835 to receive phone numbers of three local companies licensed taxis.

In the case of an emergency, call the police on 999 or an ambulance on 112. When using public transportation, an emergency button is green at Help the subway stations that can be used, and to report a traffic incident, staff will immediately alarm passengers.

The number of foreign students studying in Britain is now about 1 million. The British Government puts a high value on foreign students and is doing everything possible to attract these students from other countries competes with educational institutions in other countries.

The UK universities are renowned for their high academic standards and this reputation is the reason why the UK is the first choice for foreign students. The UK universities are always evaluated by professional bodies to ensure that their teaching of the highest standards.

Compared with other countries, British universities offer a moderate value. This is due to the time it takes a student to complete a degree. Typically, a title many spread can be accomplished in three years instead of four and most master’s programs can be completed in one year.

This makes the UK universities are very cost effective compared with other countries. The UK also has many financial aid and scholarships enabling many students to enter these schools.

Another incentive to study in the UK is the health care system in the UK. Foreign students studying in England, Northern Island, Scotland and Wales in a full-time course are entitled to free medical treatment.

If you are a student who wants to immigrate to the UK, then you could enter the country with a student visa and once your course is completed you can switch to another immigration service as a permit or a work visa without to leave the UK. You will need certain conditions to be eligible for a student visa.

You need to demonstrate that it has been accepted into a course at a publicly funded institution like a university, a private educational institution or an independent school for payment.

Also has to show that the intention of attending an approved high-level full-time, a daily course in the week with at least 15 hours during one day a week or a full-time course in a separate charge for pay for school.

All expenses for accommodation and fees which then have to be paid by you and not by public funds. If you want to study in a short course of six months is possible, could enter the UK on a tourist visa or talk to the immigration office in the UK.

The difference between entering the UK with a student visa in comparison with a tourist visa is a visa student will be able to work 20 hours a week during the course and 40 hours a week during the holidays but with a tourist visa can not do that. You can also apply for a student visa as a prospective student.

The student visa is normally granted for an initial period of one year, but could also take into account the duration of the course will study in England. You will need to ensure that your visa covers their entire study period, it is very common for student visas expire during your stay, which can cause many problems.

However, the UK has a good visa service that ensures that any renewal happen in the shortest possible time so you will have a minimal impact on the student. Regardless of this fact is really important to know in advance how long the course is and tell immigration officials that his visa can last as long.

Once you have obtained your student visa, the rest will run on your own. With a little hard work will be in a great position at the end of their course. You can return to their country and make good money and be the envy of many.
